LLOYD JONES - A YEAR TO REMEMBER

Years like this one do not come along often for a New Zealand author.

Jones enjoyed robust international acclaim for his novel, Mr.Pip, following its 2006 publication by Penguin Books.
In June 2007 he won the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Mr.Pip, only the second-ever NZ'er to win this prestigious award, then this week he picked up the prize for the fiction category in the Montana NZ Book Awards, and the Montana Medal.
He has starred at a number of literary festivals around the world and tomorrow he heads to Berlin to take up the Creative New Zealand Writers Residency. Wow, indeed a year to remember.
Congratulations Lloyd, travel well, and best wishes for the next project.

And today, Saturday, the New Zealand Herald devote a whole page to him in a great piece by their Arts Editor Linda Herrick.
