TWO BOOKS FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES

THE OUTDOOOR BOOK FOR ADVENTUROUS CHAPS
Essential Skills & Activities for Boys of All Ages
Adrian Besley Prion (Reed) $40

At first glance you could be forgiven for thinking you had picked up a book published in the 1940’s or 1950’s as it has such an old fashioned appearance but no, this is a brand new 2007 title. Modern nostalgia at its best!

It is divided into five sections – the great outdoors, fun & games, wilderness survival, cunning inventions, and extreme survival. As the sub-title suggests this is a book for “boys” of all ages including fathers and grandfathers, great to have on the bookshelf for the holidays.

THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF IMMATURITY
How to never grow up – the complete guide
Klutz $35

Klutz is an American publisher who “create activity books and other great stuff for kids aged 3 to 103. We began our corporate life in 1977 in a garage we shared with a Chevrolet Impala. Although we’ve outgrown that first office, Klutz galactic headquarters remains in Palo Alto, California, and we’re still staffed entirely by real human beings. For those of you who collect mission statements, here’s ours:
Create wonderful things – Be good – Have fun.”

In the days when I used to attend the annual Bologna Book Fair I always enjoyed my visits to the stand of Klutz to see their latest zany ideas.
This latest creation is a spiral bound hardcover book of 410 pages in full colour filled with skills activities, mischief (loads of that), secret knowledge and more.
It’s quite crazy,it’s huge fun, quite sophisticated, and “kids” from 12 plus who find this under the Christmas tree are going to be kept busy for hours.
Especially good value.
