By Lynn Andriani -- Publishers Weekly, 6/11/2008

Comedian and actor Russell Brand has signed an unusual two-book deal with HarperCollins. Brand's new book will hit U.K. shelves in time for Christmas 2008. The global English-language deal for book, e-book and audio formats was made by the CEO and publisher of HarperCollins UK and International, Victoria Barnsley. Barnsley also bought the rights for Collins to publish Brand’s award-winning hit My Booky Wook, which Hodder & Stoughton published in the U.K. last year, in the U.S., for publication in winter 2009. Gillian Blake will be the editor in the U.S.
My Booky Wook sold more than 600,000 hardcover copies in the U.K. and was a London Sunday Times #1 bestseller for seven consecutive weeks. Six months after its initial publication, My Booky Wook returned to the bestseller list following Universal Pictures’ release of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the Judd Apatow film in which Brand appeared.Collins will publish the second book in the U.S.; a date has not yet been set.
