Harry Potter: JK Rowling's The Tales of Beedle the Bard - round up of the reviews

The global publication of JK Rowling’s The Tales of Beedle The Bard, her latest contribution to the Harry Potter series, took place at midnight (last Thursday, Dec 4).

London was the centre of Potter-mania, with fans travelling to the UK to pick up their copies.

The Telegraph’s reviewer Sameer Rahim found it insubstantial, saying “There is an element of padding to make it a respectable length and it will barely satisfy the Potter fanatics for more than half-an-hour.”
The Guardian meanwhile are publishing a live account of reading the book, with their enthusiastic reviewer analysing it chapter by chapter. They also acknowledge how short the book is, with a quote from the Waterstone’s book seller who points out that it won’t take long to read.
