CHRONICLES OF STONE #3 Tribal Ash
Vincent Ford - Scholastic - $18.99

This is the third title in Ford's widely acclaimed trilogy. With his well-researched historical detail he provides a fascinating insight into primitive life. Aimed at YA (14+) and adult audience.

Having survived the warring tribe of the north, Trei makes his way back home, leaving his twin sister Souk with the Northmen as their shaman. After struggling through snowy mountains, he is taken in and looked after for a time by the Sea People, before he heads off again on his journey to find his own tribe, the People of the Canyons.
As his departure from his own people had reportedly broken the laws of the tribe, will they accept him back, given the prize he brings with him? And can Souk’s dream of peace with the Northmen’s neighbouring tribes be realised?

This is what I said about the second title, Set in Stone, in the series:
“… the compelling, fast-paced wonderfully told epic journey of Trei and Souk as they travel vast distances north seeking desperately needed secrets to save their tribe ....… a simply stunning piece of writing, I couldn’t put it down and will now wait impatiently for the 3rd title in the series.”

Vincent Ford is a former teacher and previous winner of the Tom Fitzgibbon Award and has gone on to build a strong following among junior readers. The Chronicles of Stone trilogy is aimed at an older audience than his previous books.

The first title in the series, Scorched Bone, is shortlisted in the 2009 NZ Post Book Awards in the senior fiction category.
