The recipients of the 2009 University of Auckland Distinguished Alumni Awards speak about their life and work.

Lynley Dodd DCNZM, DipFA
“Going to the Dogs”
Time: 10.30am – 11.30am

Lynley Dodd will discuss her route to books (particularly the Hairy Maclary series) plus the spinoffs, sidelights, feedback and excitements that have been part of her writing and illustrating life for the past 35 years.
Lynley is one of New Zealand’s best known authors. Her career in children’s literature spans over 30 years and as many books, with her popular animal adventures winning multiple awards, including New Zealand picture book of the year. Widely published, Lynley’s books have sold over six million copies worldwide. In 2002 Lynley was made a Distinguished Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to children’s literature.
