Franklin to lead Canongate ebook push
25.03.09 Report from The Bookseller

Canongate has promoted Dan Franklin to the role of digital editor, where he will oversee the publisher's e-book programme for both new and backlist titles. Canongate plans to launch the Canongate Classics e-book list, which will comprise more than 100 titles, at this year's Edinburgh Book Festival in August.
Franklin will also have responsibility for developing "special, enhanced e-books", while continuing to look after his own list of authors. Franklin will also cover audio books, with the intention of commissioning more frontlist titles, and bringing backlist classics such as Muriel Spark's The Driver's Seat – read by Dame Judi Dench – back into availability.

As well as this, Franklin is editing a new website, with fragments of the autobiography of "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" singer Gil Scott-Heron. The website goes live on April 1st, to coincide with Scott-Heron's 60th birthday, while a print version has been scheduled for January 2011.

This Dan Franklin is not to be confused with Dan Franklin, Publisher at Jonathan Cape!
