Granta launches digital competition
25.06.09 Katie Allen writing in The Bookseller

Granta has teamed up with online cultural hub Flavorpill and The School of Life in London to launch a digital initiative celebrating the publication of The Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton in July.

"The Rehearsal Project" competition invites Flavorpill's audience to create digital film or animation shorts which explore the notion of "life as performance", linking to the themes of Catton's debut novel. Submissions will be shared on Flavorpill through the coming month, along with previews of the book and an interview with the author.
A judging panel, to be announced shortly, will choose the winner, who will be revealed at an event hosted by The School of Lie on 23rd July.

Iain Chapple, head of digital marketing and development at Granta, said: "Granta launches its e-book programme this July with Eleanor Catton's remarkable debut, and what better way to mark the list's move into the digital arena than with The Rehearsal Project.
"Granta offers a dynamic home for the finest new writing and the development of partnerships, such as this one . . . is just one of the innovative projects we will be announcing over the coming months."
