HarperCollins is launching the A Woman of Substance Awards in association with the Daily Express, Debenhams and P&O Cruises to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Barbara Taylor Bradford's début novel, A Woman of Substance.

The awards, in support of charity Target Ovarian Cancer, are for women who "are true examples of women of substance". The winner will be announced in September when Taylor Bradford and HC will host an awards ceremony.
Amanda Ridout, m.d. of HarperCollins, said: "It has been HC's enormous pleasure and privilege to be Barbara's publisher for 30 years and we are thrilled to be establishing these awards in recognition of the inspiration Barbara has given to millions of women all around the world." She continued: "We're also going to be welcoming Barbara into the UK in September where there will be lots of high profile PR and media activity."

On 3rd September, HC will publish Taylor Bradford's 25th novel, Breaking the Rules, as a £14.99 hb (plus e-book, audiobook and digital edition), as well as a special edition of A Woman of Substance (£7.99, pb) with a new foreword by Taylor Bradford, and a luxury limited edition, in a velvet case, which will also include a family tree of heroine Emma Harte, a foreword by the author and a "life in pictures" section.
Libraries nationwide will be provided with entry forms and posters, and bookshop support is in discussion. To find out more visit the website.
