Writer’s Retreat in Waitakere Ranges

The peaceful surrounds of the Waitakere Ranges will be the setting for a special writer’s retreat in September this year. Set at the Aio Wira retreat centre near Bethell’s Beach, the aim of the weekend is to provide attendees with the chance to take a bit of time out from their normal lives and simply write for an entire weekend without interruption.
The weekend, which runs from the 11th-13th September, includes three workshops, which are aimed at inspiring and motivating attendees. James George will give a workshop on the mechanics of story writing, there is a session on motivation, inspiration and time management for writers from a life coach, and a session on the technical issues of writing from a freelance book editor. Writing can sometimes be a lonely experience, and meeting other writers is often an important part of the process.

This weekend will also be an opportunity to meet with other like-minded individuals and talk about topics that don’t interest non-writers. Strong support networks can be created through workshop weekends such as this, and the weekend has been designed to allow the kind of interaction that will encourage friendships and networks that last long after the final day of the retreat. For many people, writing takes second place to family, work commitments and friends.

This writer’s retreat weekend is a chance for attendees to put their writing first. Be in quick, places are limited. For more information, contact Trudi Caffell at trudi.caffell@paradise.net.nz
