ALLEN & UNWIN CELEBRATE NEW ZEALAND PUBLISHING VENTURE.
Booksellers, publishers, writers and friends gathered at Tabac bar in Auckland's CBD last night to celebrate Allen & Unwin’s first two titles in their new local publishing venture.

The authors of Allen & Unwin’s new books, Lisa Tamati (author of Running Hot) and Bronwyn Sell (author of Law Breakers & Mischief Makers), were toasted alongside the small NZ based team from the independent Australian publishing company.
Allen & Unwin won the 2009 Thorpe-Bowker award this year for best Agent/Distributor Representing Overseas Publishers, and they plan to bring the same enthusiasm and energy to their local titles as they do for the many books they work on currently.

NZ Director Melanie Laville-Moore spoke and made a toast to her team for their hard work since the inception of the idea to publish books from NZ, to the future success of the two current books and also those on the horizon. Melanie thanked those present for their support and those who could not be there for their help and encouragement.

Ross Lorimer, Lucie L'Estrange, Nic McCloy, Josie Brennan, Melanie Laville-Moore and Abba Renshaw.

Hi, I cannot see how to email you on your blog layout, so here is a brief book message from Auckland! As a personal contribution to NZ book month, I have this week published an ebook you may be interested to comment upon. There is more about it at http://therealmrfrankenstein.blogspot.com/
If you would like to know more you can also contact me via my blog profile.
Kind regards

...strange comment I realise, but I'm keen to contact my pal Ross Lorimer (in the photograph), who I haven't seen or spoken to in about 15 years! Does anyone have his contact details? Simon (Atkinson) UK
