How to Impress Booksellers
By Jason Boog on GalleyCat Jul 19, 2010

Booksellers around the country contributed to a new hashtag this morning, listing countless tips for authors, publicists, and readers on "ways to impress booksellers." In these days of limited publicity budgets and diminishing independent bookstores, this is crucial intelligence.

All the booksellers in the audience can join the conversation on Twitter, using the hashtag #waystoimpressbooksellers. Here are a few of our favorites...

Michele Filgate wrote: "Authors: most customers really love the Q&A part of the event. Focus on that."

Bookavore had some sweeping suggestions: "Write good books. Donuts. Booze. Donuts and booze. Good Chinese food. Thank-you notes. Authenticity."

Just Books suggested: "I love it when authors make OTHER book/author recommendations to the audience. They listen to you and buy!"

Stefan Moorehead added: 'say "I f-ing hate Amazon' when you ask me to order a book for you."
