Applications are invited from writers with some publishing record for the Michael King Writers’ Centre Residential Workshop 2010. The symposium style workshop, is limited to twenty writers and will offer a focused, interactive environment with fellow writers and respected professionals.
Following the successful inaugural Residential Workshop on History and Biography in 2009, the 2010 workshop takes a more intensive look at Biography, Autobiography and Memoir.

Fiona Kidman, C.K. Stead, Philip Temple, Rachel Barrowman, Paul Millar, Brad Haami, Charles Royal, Deborah Shepard, Gordon McLauchlan, Diane Brown, Paul Diamond, David Ling,  Liz Allen, Geoff Chapple, Peter Simpson and publishers Sam Elworthy, Lorain Day and Bob Ross will discuss their experiences in research, writing, book structure and publishing.
Over three days and two nights, participants will have opportunities to discuss issues with speakers and publishers and to report on their current projects. Sessions will focus on literary, historical and collective biography, approaches to Maori history and biography, memoir vs autobiography, creative non fiction, research and publishing.
Applications close 18th July 2010 and should include a writing CV. The workshop runs from midday Saturday 23rd to midday Monday 25th October. The cost is $440.00 plus GST
including accommodation for two nights and all meals.
