Dreaming a Lighthouse: A Creative Partnership - a Teenager, Her Doctor & Cancer

This is the story of Wendy Potter, a young woman with cancer - determined to keep her identity, dignity and sense of power, and to make choices about her life. Her doctor uses Wendy's art and writing to extend and deepen their communication and understanding of her disease - and her courage on the journey. Moving, instructive, inspirational.

About the author:
As a doctor from 1971 to 1998 Hetty Rodenburg developed an interest in grief counselling and the effects of trauma on psychological, physical and spiritual health. She began to specialise in work with terminally ill patients, and often uses art as a form of dialogue. She trained and worked with Dr Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, and has facilitated her workshops in NZ and overseas. Hetty is now in private practice involved with grief counselling and the emotional and spiritual care of people who have life threatening illness. A skilled and sought-after educator, she frequently gives presentations and leads workshops. She lives in Days Bay, near Wellington.

The Women's Bookshop invites you to meet the author:
