The Gruffalo gets a Red Nose

Macmillan Children’s Books announced today that the multi award-winning and bestselling The Gruffalo will be a supporting partner of Red Nose Day 2011.
A special The Gruffalo Red Nose Day Book, an activity book retailing at £2.99 will be published in aid of Comic Relief on February 18th, a month ahead of Red Nose Day on Friday 18th March. At least £2 from the sale of every book will go directly to Comic Relief.

The partnership will also see The Gruffalo feature prominently throughout Comic Relief’s 15,000 Red Nose Day Early Years Activity Packs.

First published in 1999, The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler has sold over 4 million copies worldwide, has consistently featured in the UK Children’s Bestseller Charts and been translated into over 40 languages. One of the best loved children’s characters, only last month it topped a survey of favourite children’s books with one in five children between the ages of four and 11 choosing The Gruffalo. Last Christmas, the all-star animation of The Gruffalo was the most-watched children’s programme in BBC One’s festive schedule with viewing figures of over 9 million.
