Message from Susan Hornbeck, Publicity Manager, Scribe

Australian Small Publisher of the Year 2006/2008/2010

I’m finishing up at Scribe early next week after more than 6 years, to do a Masters degree. To quote Dr Norman Doidge, author of The Brain That Changes Itself, we all have a ‘use it or lose it’ brain, and mine is diminishing.

Emma Morris will be the new publicity manager at Scribe. I’m sure most of you have worked with her before. Her email address is emma@scribepub.com.au.

I won’t be leaving publishing entirely, as I am putting together a book for Scribe with the working title, What Was I Thinking? black eyes, drive-bys, and other tales of disgrace. No matter how well-grounded we are, we’ve all had at least one ‘what was I thinking?’ relationship. No one likes to think of themselves as being in a dysfunctional relationship, but at one time or another, all of us have been.
What Was I Thinking? will be a collection of tales written by well-known women — politicians, writers, journalists, comedians, commentators — about such an experience. Some stories will be funny, some will be heartfelt, but these tales of painful, difficult, or just plain stupid behaviour, will surely resonate with any woman who has laid her heart on the line. What Was I Thinking? will be published by Scribe in October 2011.

Thank you for all your support over the years. If you have a dull moment today, Emma and I have prepared a small Christmas dance for you here: http://elfyourself.jibjab.com/view/A4mhToDpnDXhxPZF. (It takes a minute or so to load.)

Have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Best wishes
Susan
