Aroha to Christchurch

From the Michael King Writers' Centre:
As I write this it is one week since the Christchurch earthquake. A week of grief, sorrow and disbelief. Our thoughts and best wishes are with all of those who have been affected by this tragedy.

Thanks to an initiative of Auckland author James George, the New Zealand Society of Authors and Auckland Council libraries are organising a Writers Read In on Friday 25 March at 5.30 pm at a library near you. They hope to have writers to read from their work at most of the libraries around Auckland and all funds raised at the event will be donated to the Red Cross Canterbury Earthquake Appeal. Writers who are willing to read at a library are invited to register on Facebook or contact Maggie Tarver at the NZSA, mailto:director@nzauthors.org.nz

Devonport is one of the libraries expected to be involved and our then resident writer, Nelson Wattie, has agreed to take part. We will let our supporters know more details about these and any other activities to help the earthquake relief.
