The New Zealand Society of Authors (PEN NZ) welcomes Brian Beckman

The New Zealand Society of Authors (PEN NZ) recently welcomed Brian Beckman to the staff as a marketing intern this October. Originating from the west cost region of the United States he is currently a 3rd year university student studying Acting, Linguistics and Marketing. Before coming to Auckland, he worked various jobs under leading persons in areas of music, theater and film in both New York and parts of Los Angeles
He cites the late actor James Dean as a major influence and quotes “There’s a great quote from him [James Dean] that goes ‘Being a great actor isn’t easy, being a great man is even harder. I hope to be both before I’m done.’ I consider that an idyllic lifestyle to live your life, something which applies to both what drives you and who you are behind it all, ceratinly one that I strive to live by each day.” He’d also like to take the time to thank the NZSA for giving him this great opportunity and is sure his time spent in New Zealand will be both memorable and lasting. “kia Ora New Zealand”.

Hi Keri

No he is not being paid by us - he is being sponsored by his university in the US to get some work experience with us. That is how these overseas interns work.

He is doing some valuable work for us - researching the digital impact on libraries and the PLR among other things.
