Neil Jordan takes novel of the year at Irish Book Awards

Neil Jordan's Mistaken (John Murray) has been named novel of the year at the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards 2011.
The film director clinched his prize at the awards ceremony, which was held last night (17th November). Seamus Heaney was presented with the Bob Hughes Lifetime Achievement award by the recently elected Irish president Michael D Higgins. Other winners included Caitlin Moran, Alan Glynn, Anna Carey and Chris Judge.
John Treacy, chairman of the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards, said: "As a literary nation Ireland has few equals. We in the trade know how tremendously lucky we are to have so many great writers resident and working on this island, as the list of award winners would suggest. The Irish creative spirit is unquenchable and even in these difficult economic times, our industry continues to produce books of the highest quality."
