Arts Foundation News

The Tuwhare whanau and the Hone Tuwhare 
Charitable Trust have managed to purchase 
Icon Hone Tuwhare's old home in Kaka Point,
south of Dunedin, thanks to the generosity of the Takutai Trust.  
The aim is to turn the cottage into a writer's residency.   
In April, Auckland's Art & Object will be offering a small selection of 
 Contemporary New Zealand artworks for auction, donated by artists
 in support of the trust .

For two years Jim Wilson travelled to cities and 
towns throughout the USA putting poem
posters by Kiwi poets on poles, walls and in cafes and 
 stores.
  A dedicated group of volunteers also put these poem 
posters up in cities around the world from London,
 Glasgow, Paris and Vienna to Sydney, Australia.  
Back home in New Zealand, Wilson's company 
Phantom Billstickers Ltd has put up thousands
 of Kiwi poems on walls and poster bollards from 
Invercargill to 
 Whangarei.  Now eight New Zealand poets will
 participate in events in New York. Kiwi Poets in 
New York features Icon Janet Frame’s niece 
Pamela Gordon reading Janet’s poetry.
