The Art of the Short Story with Jon McGregor, D.W. Wilson and Roshi Fernando
Tuesday 17th April

Master short story tellers Jon McGregor, D.W. Wilson and Roshi Fernando join us for a special short story evening with readings and discussion at the Bloomsbury Salon.
This is Bloomsbury’s Year of the Short Story and we are celebrating the perfectly crafted short stories of the much loved Jon McGregor and fierce new talents D.W. Wilson and Roshi Fernando.
Jon McGregor jokes that he is ‘Britain’s Second Best Short Story Writer’ after he was named runner-up for the BBC Short Story Award two years in a row. He is the author of If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things, So Many Ways to Begin and Even the Dogs. He is the winner of the Betty Trask Prize and the Somerset Maugham Award, and has been twice longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. This Isn’t the Sort of Thing That Happens to Someone Like You is his new collection of short stories.
D. W. Wilson is the author of the collection of short stories, Once You Break a Knuckle, which includes the 2011 award-winning BBC National Short Story, 'The Dead Roads'. D.W. Wilson was born and raised in the small towns of the Kootenay Valley, British Columbia. He is the recipient of the University of East Anglia’s inaugural Man Booker Prize Scholarship, the most prestigious award available to students in the MA programme. He is currently working on his first novel, Ballistics.

Roshi Fernando is the winner of the Impress Prize for New Writers 2009. She was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Short Story Prize 2011 and longlisted for the Frank O’Connor Short Story Award 2011. She was born in London of Sri Lankan parents and has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Swansea. Homesick is her first collection of short stories.
