In 2011, poet
David Howard and Roger Hickin of Cold Hub Press (http://www.coldhubpress.co.nz/) partnered with the US publisher Zephyr Press
(http://www.zephyrpress.org/) to present a table of editions from New Zealand small
press publishers at the AWP bookfair in Washington DC, where titles were bought
by American publishers, magazine editors, writers and academics.
Follow up
efforts saw books go to the Woodberry Poetry Room of Houghton
Library,
Harvard University and to The Poets' House in New York.
Given their past success, David and Roger now invite
approaches from
New Zealand small press publishers who would like their
titles to be
represented at the AWP Conference & Bookfair in Boston,
March 6-9 2013.
Here is an attractive
way to display your broadsheets, chapbooks, and full length collections
prominently, alongside offerings from the likes of Copper Canyon Press and W.W.
Norton & Company.
What will it cost? The only cost to participating presses
will be an equitable
share of stock freight costs, together with a proportion
of the table and
signage costs. We will cover the return airfares and
accommodation costs
so that Roger Hickin can personally present your titles
to prospective buyers.
This is likely to be less than NZ$250 all up. No handling
charge for sales will
be made, with all income being returned to the respective
publishers.
