Out of print titles from classic crime writers, David Williams and Andrew Garve, are now available in ebook format, priced at £7.99.

Bello, Pan Macmillan’s new digital imprint, is republishing 20th century classics for a 21st century audience. All titles are drawn from the backlist of the prestigious Curtis Brown Literary and Talent Agency.

Paul Winterton, under the pen name of Andrew Garve, wrote over forty-five books. Many of these were serialized, televised, broadcast, filmed and translated into some twenty languages. He was noted for his varied and unusual backgrounds – which included Russia, newspaper offices, the West Indies, ocean sailing, the Australian outback, politics, mountaineering and forestry – and for never repeating a plot. Andrew Garve titles on the Bello list include The Narrow Search, Prisoner’s Friend, The Cuckoo Line Affair and Murderer’s Fen

David Williams was best known for his crime novel series featuring the banker Mark Treasure and police inspector DI Parry.  Three of his out of print titles are published in ebook format today; Treasure by Post, Banking on Murder and Prescription for Murder

Jeremy Trevathan, Fiction Publisher at Pan Macmillan says: “I'm so delighted to be bringing some classic crime and thriller fiction back to life on Bello. Some of the authors we have here are real classics and reveal what an amazing heritage of crime writing we have in the UK.

In particular I would single out David William's Mark Treasure novels - including Murder for Treasure, which was short-listed for the 1980 CWA Gold dagger - and classic thrillers from the renowned Frances Durbridge. In the most recent release of reissues we have novels by Andrew Garve - one of the pseudonyms of Paul Winterton, a founder member of the Crime Writer's Association and its first (joint) secretary – whose novel The Megstone Plot was made into the classic film, A Touch of Larceny, starring James Mason, George Sanders and John Le Mesurier in 1959. Further exciting crime and thriller releases will be coming from Bello throughout the year. Watch this space!”

Bello will also make all titles available in Print on Demand (POD) editions.
