Goodreads’ Guide to Dystopian Novels [Infographic]

Posted: 22 Mar 2012
On the eve of The Hunger Games movie première, Goodreads has compiled a fantastic infographic with all you need to know about dystopian literature.
A dystopia is the idea of a society in a repressive and controlled state. Most famous examples of dystopian novels are Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and George Orwell’s 1984.
This great infographic shows the timeline of dystopian literature. Most of the books classified by Goodreads users as “dystopian” date back in the 40s, 50s and 60s, but since 9/11 the genre is on the rise again.
The Hunger Games from Suzanne Collins, incorporating many common topics and themes, may eventually overtake 1984 as the most popular dystopian novel – not only on Goodreads.
