WRITERS YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE AT THE AWRF

Here are five writers we are confident you’re going to love:

Australian rising star Charlotte Wood talks with Festival co-founder Stephanie Johnson about her three novels: The Submerged Cathedral (2004); The Children (2007) and most recently moving, funny and quintessentially Australian Animal People (2011). See Charlotte’s session at 4pm on Friday 11 May.

US National Book Award winner Jesmyn Ward talks at 2.30pm on Sunday 13 May with Findlay Macdonald about her book Salvage the Bones (2011), a moving story of a family caught up in Hurricane Katrina.

Lemon Andersen’s extraordinary life story about overcoming adversity through the power of the spoken word is told in County of Kings:The Beautiful Struggle at 4pm on Sunday 13 May.  This session will make you laugh, cry and above all be inspired.

NZ’s own Stephanie Johnson  and Paula Morris appear in Dialling Up The Ancestors at 1pm on Sunday 13 May.  They will discuss their latest works The Open World (2012) and Rangatira (2011) respectively with fellow novelist Rachael King, exploring the line between fact and historical fiction.
