EXCLUSIVE TELEVISION INTERVIEW WITH ANNE PERRY (aka JULIET HUME) TO SCREEN ON ‘60 MINUTES’

‘Heavenly Creature’, Anne Perry, speaks to Guyon Espiner in an exclusive television interview on 60 Minutes broadcast this Sunday (July 27) on TV3.

Perry, an internationally best-selling author, is better known in New Zealand as teenage murderer Juliet Hulme, who with her friend Pauline Parker killed Pauline's mother in Christchurch, in 1954.
The subsequent court case made headlines all around the world. Juliet was found guilty and spent five and a half years in prison. Following her release, she changed her identity and became something of a recluse in Scotland, where she set about turning herself into a writer of murder mysteries. More than 12 million copies of her books have sold world wide.
The 1994 release of Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures reignited interest in the murder, and a journalist tracked down Anne Perry and identified her as Juliet Hume.

In the intervening years she has remained famously private. Now, on the eve of the release of an in-depth biography, (The Search for Anne Perry)by Joanne Drayton (Harper Collins), Anne Perry speaks to Guyon Espiner about her past, her life now, and the parallels between her notorious past and her work as a writer.
Perry also speaks openly about her trial in Christchurch, the experience of being jailed as a teenager, and what happened when her identity was revealed.
Guyon Espiner’s exclusive interview with Anne Perry screens on 60 Minutes, TV3, Sunday, at 7.30pm.
