Hairy Bikers topple Fifty Shades from Amazon top spot

Orion title The Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Lose Weight has toppled Fifty Shades of Grey from the Amazon bestseller lists number one spot, after many weeks at the top for the erotica bestseller.
Though no sales figures are given by Amazon.co.uk, The Hairy Dieters by Si King and Dave Myers, which was published on 2nd August, has now taken the number one slot on the bestseller chart. Orion said the book is now in its fourth reprinting. It has a r.r.p. of £14.99, with Amazon selling the title for £10.49. It is currently showing as "temporarily out of stock" on the site.

The three titles in the Fifty Shades trilogy follow in the second, third and fourth slots, with fellow erotica novel, Bared to You (Michael Joseph), taking the fifth slot. Each of the Fifty Shades books have an r.r.p. of £7.99, and are being sold on Amazon for under £4. Bared to You has an r.r.p. £7.99 and is selling on Amazon for £2.99.
Meanwhile, Amazon.com in the US has reported that Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy has surpassed the Harry Potter series to become the bestselling book series "of all time" through the retailer. The statement included print and Kindle book sales combined, though did not give any figures.
Editorial director of books and Kindle Sara Nelson said: "Since debuting in 2998, Katniss Everdeen and the Hunger Games have taken the world by storm, much as Harry Potter did a decade before. Interestingly, this series is only three books versus Harry Potter's seven, and to achieve this result in just four years is a great testament to both the popularity of the work and, we think, the growth in reading digitally during that time."
She added that The Hunger Games is also the most-borrowed book in the Kindle Owners' Lending Library.
