The final novel by Maeve Binchy, who died in Dublin at the age of 72 in July, will be published in November. Binchy, who sold more than 40 million copies and had her books translated into 37 languages, had been working with editors on the final draft of her novel A Week in Winter in the period leading up to her death.
Her two most popular novels were adapted into films. Circle of Friends was a 1995 film starring Chris O'Donnell, Minnie Driver and Tara Road was made into a movie starring Andie McDowell and Olivia Williams.
She was happily married for about 35 years to the children's author Gordon Snell - and he has been consulted about the publication of her final work of fiction. The novel has the dedication: 'To Gordon - who makes life great every single day'.
Binchy's long-term agent Christine Green said: "Although Maeve's health had been giving her problems for some time, her writing was completely unaffected and A Week in Winter is Maeve writing at the top of her game. We have lost a wonderful story-teller."
