EDUCATION PUBLISHERS UNITE FOR FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR

New Zealand’s education publishers and Education New Zealand have joined forces to produce a web-book that will be launched at next month’s Frankfurt Book Fair.

New Zealand’s Learning Landscape introduces the world to New Zealand’s educational publishing industry and 14 of its world-class educational publishers.

It was created to promote New Zealand’s educational publishing industry at Frankfurt, the world’s largest book and content fair, where New Zealand is this year’s Guest of Honour.

The web-book shows international consumers the innovation and variety available from New Zealand educational publishers who offer resources across the curriculum from early childhood to tertiary, and for learners and teachers .

The web-book showcases the work, expertise, diversity and passion of the industry that gave the world internationally renowned authors and educators including Sylvia Ashton-Warner, Dame Marie Clay, Joy Cowley and Margaret Mahy.

Freshness, innovation, and a strong grounding in what works, characterise New Zealand educational publishing.

 Its strength comes from high-interest material, developed by passionate educator-authors, using best practice in international education research, and presented using design and layout that really engages the learner in their own development.

It taps into the best of what practising teachers do and makes this accessible to educators and learners around the world. 

The industry includes New Zealand educators and designers who are working together to develop new ways to engage learners through digital means.

Education New Zealand is supporting education publishers to grow their export business, as part of achieving the Government’s goals to increase the value of international education activities to the New Zealand economy and our social, cultural and business connections with the world.

The Frankfurt Book Fair, which runs for five days and attracts more than 300,000 visitors, represents a huge opportunity to promote the New Zealand publishing industry.

The Guest of Honour programme, being led by the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, includes more than 340 events involving about 66 New Zealand authors centred around a 2500sq m pavilion. The Frankfurt Book Fair opens on October 9.
