H&S to offer cakes from Delia

Hodder & Stoughton will be making the most of Britain's "baking revolution" by reissuing one of Delia Smith's first cookery titles, Delia's Book of Cakes, with re-tested recipes and brand new additions.
The book, which dates from 1977, will be published on 28th February 2013, ahead of Mother's Day, and will include recipes for cakes including coffee and walnut sponge, cherry cake, chunky marmalade muffins and iced hidden strawberry cup cakes.
Publisher Elizabeth Hallett bought world rights in the title, from Deborah Owen at Deborah Owen Ltd. Smith’s first books were published by Hodder before moving to BBC Books when she began to appear on television.
Hallett said: "This is the book that cake-makers all over the country have been waiting for, and I couldn't be more excited to be publishing this inspirational collection from our number one home cook."
She added: "It feels like Britain is undergoing a baking revolution, and I think it must be connected to the recession; people are spending more time at home, it is really appealing to children, and it is capturing the attention of men more and more, too. Hodder has a cake club, and here was the old edition looking like it needed to be a brand new book full of lovely photographs.
"Delia has spent the last four to five months testing every recipe - she has been delivering cakes to schools and old people's homes, getting lots of feedback. There are some real old favourites in there, like seed cake, as well as a whole chapter on muffins that wasn't in the original. It felt like a real opportunity to rediscover some old favourite ingredients."
