Regarding a self published book winning a major prize - was not the Bone People a self published book.
No, it was published by the Spiral Collective who later then sold the rights to Hodder & Stoughton who have kept the book in print ever since.
Graham - Hodder & Stoughton have NOT kept "the bone people" in print. Picador in UK & other world rights have. In USA, Louisiana State University Press & Putnam Penguin continue to publish it. H&S dropped out v. early in the saga-
incidentally - Spiral Collective did NOT sell the rights to H&S: I did, with barbs in the agreement they signed.
Spiral, being the wonderful feminist group they were, just published the first 2 editions (and assisted a Dutch feminist collective - with my agreement- in publishing the first foreign language edition.
