Arnott and Kennedy on Amazon US literary imprint

18.03.13 | Benedicte Page - The Bookseller

A L Kennedy's The Blue Book and Jake Arnott's The House of Rumour are to be the first books in a literary imprint from Amazon US, 'Little A'.
Kennedy is published in the UK by Vintage and Arnott by Sceptre.
The imprint, which is headed by senior editor Ed Park, will publish 10 titles a year in novels, memoirs and short story collections, according to a report in Publishers Weekly.
Arnott's agent, Curtis Brown m.d. Jonny Geller, told The Bookseller: "It's rather exciting. Jake was published in the US by Soho Press for a couple of books, but thereafter didn't have a presence in the US. The House of Rumour went on on general submission via ICM and they [Little A] loved it and made an offer and won it in an auction. They are just about to serialise it in Playboy."
Amazon.com is currently pricing The Blue Book at $25, discounted to $14.97, with a Kindle edition at $8.60. The House of Rumour is listed as $26 discounted to $15.60, with a $15.40 Kindle edition.
Little A will also include a digital-only series, Day One, focusing on short stories from debut writers. These will be available in both North America and the UK. The first titles are Kodi Scheer's When a Camel Breaks your Heart and Monster by McSweeney's contributor Bridget Clerkin.
