Publishers line up royal baby books

Publishers are marking the birth of the royal baby with a host of titles dedicated to the new prince.
Non-fiction publisher John Blake has announced a new title called The New Royal Family: William and Kate the Next Generation, written by journalist Robert Jobson with photos from Arthur Edwards. It will be released on 5th August. A spokesman for the publisher said the book is "the true insider account of Prince William's amazing love affair with Kate Middleton".

Other titles have been kept on hold by "the Great Kate Wait", as the Duchess of Cambridge's pregnancy has been dubbed, as spectators and media hang on for more information about the prince's birth to emerge, including pictures of the Cambridges and their newborn, before going to press.
Amberley Publishing, a specialist history publisher, is set to publish Royal Babies: A History 1066 – 2013 by Amy Licence, examining how newborn royals have been received over the years. It was due for publication on 28th July 2013, however a spokesperson for the publisher said it would be in shops in a couple of weeks, when a picture of the family is available to use on the front cover.

More than 20 books about the royal baby will be published in 2013. Many are children's books featuring a royal baby, such as Mick Inkpen's Baggy Brown and the Royal Baby Book (Hodder Children's Books), Alexandra the Royal Baby Fairy by Daisy Meadows (Orchard Books) and Shhh! Don't Wake the Royal Baby by Martha Mumford and Ada Grey (Bloomsbury). Others focus on the actual baby and his parents, including Scholastic's forthcoming Our Royal Baby by Sue McMillan and The New Royal Family by Ian Lloyd (Carlton Books).

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first child was born yesterday (22nd July) at St Mary's Hospital in London. The boy, who has not yet been named, weighed 8lb 6oz, and becomes third in line to the throne.
