Irish literary magazine the Stinging Fly has announced the return of its Davy Byrnes Short Story Award. The prize was previously held in 2004 and 2009.

The Davy Byrnes Short Story Award will give €15,000 to the winning author, and €1,000 to five runners-up. Any Irish citizen or resident in Ireland or Northern Ireland is eligible to enter before the closing deadline of 3rd February 2014.

Judges for the 2014 prize include Anne Enright, the winner of the 2004 award, writer Yiyun Li, and novelist Jon McGregor. The prize, named for the Dublin pub featured in James Joyce's Ulysses, is organised by the Stinging Fly in association with Dublin UNESCO City of Literature, and sponsored by Redmond Doran on behalf of Davy Byrnes.

The winning stories will be collected and published in the autumn of 2014.
