Rowling will be the screenwriter for a new series of Potter-themed movies based on the Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which will be the title of the first film. The new series will tell the story of the book's fictional author, Newt Scamander. Rowling warned that the new movies will not be "sequels" to Harry Potter; in fact, Newt Scamander's story "will start in New York, 70 years before Harry's gets underway." Rowling said Warner Bros. approached her with the idea, and she couldn't bear the thought of the movie being written by someone else.
