A lost masterpiece, found

Text Publishing's Michael Heyward is excited :

The Young Desire It

Dear friends,

I am delighted to let you know that Kenneth Mackenzie’s The Young Desire It has been acquired at auction by Karsten Kredel at Hanser Berlin. The deal was brokered by Antonia Fritz. Hanser will publish the novel in hardcover as a lead title in the fall of 2014.

The Young Desire It tells the story of the erotic awakening of a fifteen-year-old boy named Charles Fox. First published in 1937 by Jonathan Cape, when Kenneth Mackenzie was just twenty-two, it has been out of print for decades, and has never been translated. It got a rapturous response when it first appeared, and again when we republished it in Australia a few weeks ago.

We are publishing The Young Desire It, including David Malouf’s superb introduction, in the UK in January 2014 and in the US in April 2014.
If you are yet to read it, I urge you to discover one of the great lost books of the twentieth century.

Best wishes,
Michael Heyward, Publisher
