Lady Luck: Conversations with Creative New Zealand Women

Lady Luck: Conversations with Creative New Zealand Women
features interviews with 20 high-profile New Zealand women from a range of creative disciplines – writing, performance, art, music and design – including Pinky Agnew, Hinemoana Baker, Ladi 6 and Jordan Rondel. Each woman discusses her art and motivation, early life and influences, challenges and sacrifices, health and relationships, role models and the things that inspire her most. A common theme throughout their stories is the need for women to believe in and nurture themselves, and to make time and space to be creative.

Mariana Collette (pictured right) lives at Waikanae Beach. She is a primary school teacher by day (which she loves) and a writer by night. Her most recent escapades are as a playwright and a short story author. Mariana has a handsome husband and a beautiful daughter. Mariana also has a son but he has four legs and is not a human. He is a shih tzu called Toby and he goes to school with her. Mariana loves yoga and swimming and is practising taking deep breaths.

Lisette Prendergast (pictured left) entered the workforce as an actor in 2003. Since then, she has ricocheted between acting, art and playwriting and she even got a real job once. Nowadays, she spends her days as a full time mama of two gorgeous little boys (three if you count Cheesecake the Burmese cat) who keep her very busy indeed. She lives with them and her partner, in the bustling metropolis that is Johnsonville, Wellington. Lisette enjoys writing, painting, playing with Lego and baking cookies.

The two authors are also the publishers - www.lepetitemania.co.nz.
