The latest Te Reo Singalong book, called Matariki, is being
snapped up by teachers all over New Zealand. Sharon Holt’s award winning Te Reo
Singalong series has been growing in popularity with teachers and children in
primary schools and early childhood centres for the last two years. And the
latest addition to the series, Matariki, is as popular as the other five books,
according to author and publisher Sharon Holt.
“Teachers have already been
telling me they are very excited about a new Matariki book being available,”
she says. Holt believes it’s five years since the last picture book about
Matariki was published, so her new title is great news for teachers wanting to
prepare for their Matariki focus in Term 2. Like each of the other books in the
series, Matariki comes with a CD and activity ideas.
But this book has
something extra too. “We’re creating a video of children doing kapa haka dance
moves for this song,” says Holt.
The video will be on the Te Reo Singalong
website by Monday 14 April.
