Ngaio Marsh Longlist announced



The longlist for this year’s Ngaio Marsh Award for New Zealand crime fiction has been announced, and sees The Luminaries counted in their number. 
 
The longlisted titles are:
  • The Luminaries (Eleanor Catton, Granta) 
  • Joe Victim (Paul Cleave, Atria) 
  • The Beckoning Ice (Joan Druett, Old Salt Press) 
  • Frederick’s Coat (Alan Duff, Random House NZ) 
  • My Brother’s Keeper (Donna Malane, HarperCollins NZ) 
  • Where Dead Men Go (Liam McIlvanney, Faber) 
  • Cross Fingers (Paddy Richardson, Hachette NZ) 
  • Only the Dead (Ben Sanders, HarperCollins NZ). 
A shortlist of three titles will be announced at the end of July, and the winner will be announced at the WORD Christchurch Writers and Readers Festival in August. 
 
The Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Crime Novel recognises excellence in New Zealand crime, mystery and thriller writing, and is awarded to the best novel published in the preceding year. The award is named after Christchurch crime writer Dame Ngaio Marsh.
