Vale Liam Davison - Australian author killed in Malaysian Airlines tragedy

Mon 21 July - Writers Victoria

liam_sml The thoughts of the Writers Victoria team are with the families and friends of award-winning author Liam Davison and his wife Frankie, as well as everyone else affected by last week’s MH17 tragedy.

A writer, mentor and workshop facilitator, Liam had a long association with Writers Victoria and was one of six authors chosen to represent the state’s diverse writing community in a series of postcards produced in the early years of the organisation (then called the Victorian Writers' Centre). His postcard has pride of place on our office wall.

Two of Liam’s books, ‘Soundings’ and ‘The White Woman’ were shortlisted for the Victorian Premier’s Award and The Age Book of the Year Award. ‘Soundings’ won a National Book Council Banjo Award for Fiction in 1993. His passing is a great loss to the literary community.
