READ ALOUD SCHOOLS DAY

If your school hasn’t yet registered for this fabulous free event for Canterbury school children, make sure they do! Featuring Jackie French, Donovan Bixley and Melinda Szymanik for primary and intermediate, and Dylan Horrocks, Laini Taylor, Anis Mojgani, with a special appearance by young local poet Moana Thompson, for secondary students. MEMORIAL LECTURE

We honour a much-missed local children’s writer by welcoming Elizabeth Knox as presenter of the inaugural Margaret Mahy Lecture, entitled ‘An Unreal House Filled with Real Storms’.

SUPERNATURALLY

This session brings together two huge imaginations: Laini Taylor, American author of the smash-hit Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy and Elizabeth Knox is one of New Zealand’s most inventive and exciting writers. They talk fantasy, world-building and writing for young adults with Helen Lowe.
