What Happened At The Booker Prize Parties

Book2Book Thursday 16 Oct 2014

Where once the publisher of each of the six shortlisted authors hosted a knees up in a suspicious-smelling Soho haunt for the literary waifs and strays excluded from the Guildhall ceremony, this year there were just two events.

Recently merged Penguin Random House, which represents five of the six authors on the shortlist, put on a monster bash at Cargo, a cavernous warehouse in Shoreditch's hipster heartland.
Serpent's Tail, meanwhile, responsible for the sixth book, hosted a much smaller do around the corner at The Doll's House in Hoxton. It turned out that it was indeed all frightfully trendy. I couldn't say I hadn't been warned.
