Talking about Tangata Whenua: An Illustrated History

Talking about Tangata Whenua: An Illustrated History

With Atholl Anderson and Aroha Harris

Saturday 15 November, 2pm
Auditorium, Auckland War Memorial Museum

Atholl Anderson (Ngāi Tahu) and Aroha Harris (Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi) talk about new perspectives on Māori history, drawing on their work for Tangata Whenua: An Illustrated History, published on 14 November. ‘One of the most significant books on the Māori world ever written’, in the words of Sir Tipene O’Regan, this first one-volume history of Māori presents a sweeping narrative from ancient origins in South China to the present day.

This free public talk offers an early glimpse into an exceptional new history that is important to all New Zealanders.

Free with Museum entry. Bookings recommended at ticket desks, 09 306 7048 or bookings@aucklandmuseum.com
