Bumper entry levels in New Zealand children’s and young adults book awards

Judges Bob Docherty, Fiona Mackie and Annemarie Florian have now each received 122 books from the first round of submissions for the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, says the awards organiser, the New Zealand Book Awards Trust. This is the same size as the full field last year, with four more months of children’s publishing to come. “This shows New Zealand pubishers’, authors’ and illustrators’ continued commitment to bringing New Zealand stories to New Zealand children, and is something to be very proud of,” says Trust chair Nicola Legat.

The Trust is delighted that His Excellency the Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae will host the awards at Government House, in Wellington, on Thursday 13 August 2015. “We are honoured to be able to hold the awards at such a prestigious location, and look forward to welcoming the wider book industry there,” says Nicola Legat.
