Seren reprinting Costa-winning EdwardsIndependent publisher Seren Press is reprinting Costa Poetry Award winner My Family and Other Superheroes by Jonathan Edwards, after the book sold out on Amazon.co.uk.
More Duffy for Legend PressLegend Press has signed a novel from Sophie Duffy in a sea with Broo Doherty at DHH Literary Agency.
Commissioning editor Lauren Parsons signed world rights to Bright Stars, and will publish on 1st October 2015.
The book follows four university friends, whose lives are ripped apart by a terrible accident. Years later, the opportunity for a reunion comes up, forcing them to relive the fateful night.
Parsons said: "Sophie is a fantastic writer, who’s charming and multi-faceted characters endear and captivate the reader."
Waterstones' core Christmas sales up 5% Waterstones’ core Christmas sales were up over 5% year-on-year but overall revenue was hit by lower sales of Kindle devices.
The chain bookseller’s m.d, James Daunt, said the company had a “solid” Christmas and was pleased with sales of books, stationery and toys, with new stores in the estate performing particularly well.  But the bookseller’s bottom line was hit by the lack of sales of Kindle e-readers and tablet devices this year in comparison to 2013.
Smith and Macdonald among Costa winnersAli Smith and Helen Macdonald are among the winners of this year’s Costa Book Awards, adding to the existing trophy haul for their books.
The awards, announced this evening (5th January) on BBC Radio 4’s “Front Row”, also saw wins for Kate Saunders, Jonathan Edwards, and Emma Healey.










John McNamee dies
The sudden death has been announced of Irish bookseller John McNamee, president of the European Booksellers Federation from 2005 to 2014.
McNamee is understood to have suffered a heart attack at the weekend.
