Russell Pitt, the popular Beckett Books rep died
suddenly on holiday at Okiwi Bay near Kaikoura last week. His funeral is to be
held on Wednesday January 7th at 11pm at the Ngaio Union Church, Kenya Rd,
Ngaio.
Russell’s career at Beckett’s, and prior to that
at AH & AW Reed spans almost 50 years, and he was an integral part of not
only the Wellington book scene, but well beyond that too.
John McIntyre of the Children’s Bookshop in
Wellington is speaking at the funeral on behalf of Russell’s bookstore
customers and book trade friends.
John would very much like to be able to include
memories, anecdotes and messages from Russell’s friends and colleagues, whether
they are at the funeral or not.
