David Fickling Books Joins Scholastic
David Fickling has opened a new chapter in his publishing life, in May, the Oxford, England-based publisher will release the first books under a new partnership with Scholastic. Spanning a range of age levels and genres, David Fickling Books will be released in both the U.K. and the U.S., and his line of books will, Fickling pledged, live up to its moniker, "the Home of the Story." NYRB to Reissue Astrid Lindgren Classics
Pippi Longstocking turns 70 this May (though she doesn’t look a day over 10!) but fans of her creator will be the ones getting the gift: reissues of two out-of-print classics by Astrid Lindgren. The New York Review will publish Mio, My Son (1954) and Seacrow Island (1964), stand-alone novels that were among Lindgren's most popular works. Penguin Young Readers organized a cross-country tour for The Very Hungry Caterpillar last month, in which the caterpillar himself, and a decorated Volkswagen Bug, stopped at bookstores across the country: beginning in San Carlos, Calif., and ending in Amherst, Mass., at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art.
