TOP BRASS TURN OUT TO CELEBRATE WITH HAROLD HILLMAN AT HIS BOOK LAUNCH

Funky Britomart venue Generator was packed to capacity for the launch of Harold Hillman’s second book, Fitting In, Standing Out last Friday evening. Top corporate and media folk were in attendance, including illustrious exec Doug McKay, Mark Sainsbury and representatives of Fonterra. Harold’s long-time friend and business associate, McKay graciously MC’d, speaking warmly of Harold’s capacity to be real in the corporate world and encouraging us to do the same in our daily lives, particularly at work.

RadioLive host Mark Sainsbury invited everyone to toast Harold and his new book, affectionately referring to him as “the good doctor”, a title he has playfully adopted when talking business matters with Harold every week on his Sunday morning radio programme. Sainsbury highlighted Harold’s insights, common-sense and humanity when discussing thorny, contemporary work/life issues. Sainsbury then presented Harold with a bouquet of flowers from his wife Ramona, who has been a big fan right from when she first heard Harold’s voice on radio.

Margaret Sinclair, Publisher – Business Partnerships & General Non-fiction, Penguin Random House New Zealand – described Harold as a wonderful and responsive author to work with; one who moved with grace and integrity through the labyrinthine publishing process.

Harold’s speech was a warm and generous tribute to his team at Sigmoid, publisher Penguin Random House and bookseller Whitcoulls, all of whom have supported Harold since he published his first book, The Impostor Syndrome, in December 2013.

Whitcoulls Book Manager Joan Mackenzie was in attendance; another loyal supporter of Harold’s. Fair to say, there was a lot of love in the room for Harold Hillman; the man who daily walks the walk as author, media commentator, executive coach and authentic business leader. Harold Hillman’s new blog has also just been launched: www.drharoldhillman.com

And check out this powerful and elegant story by senior Herald journalist, Phil Taylor, which ran in the Weekend Herald: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11504518.
