Entertaining Book Events at Takapuna Library

Author talk: The story of the Hauraki Gulf

You are invited to hear Raewyn Peart, Policy Director of the Environmental Defence Society, speak about her recently published book The story of the Hauraki Gulf.

Proudly published by Bateman, this special publication is an environmental, social and cultural history of Auckland's association with this remarkable place.

Copies of Raewyn's book will be available for signing and sale courtesy of The Booklover.

Light refreshments will be served from 6pm, talk begins at 6.30pm.

High tea and bubbles with Kim Evans
Treat your friends and family to a celebratory occasion

There is nothing little about Kim Evans' Little & Friday empire!
It has grown to four sites, open seven days a week and is a magnet to fans throughout the country.
Join us as Kim provides a delicious afternoon tea of sweet and savoury treats, taken from her new cookbook Little & Friday every meal.
Guests will be seated at tables of eight to enjoy the afternoon tea and a talk by Kim herself.
Bubbles will be generously provided by Brancott Estate.

You are warmly invited to celebrate the recent publication of Sue Younger's best-selling novel, Days Are Like Grass.
The NZ Listener calls this book "a compelling read tackling tough family issues," while the NZ Herald praises Younger's ability to "capture the chaos of relationships" in this book.

Telling our stories: Writing for older adults 
When: Saturday 26 November, Saturday 3 December, 10am - 1pm
Where:
Takapuna Library
Cost: Free
Join experienced writing teachers Ros Ali and Jo Emeney for a two-day creative writing course that will enable you to tell your stories in your own voice and in a polished, professional way.
We will have a comfortable room in  the library (Rangitoto Room) to ourselves. You will be introduced to new pieces of writing, new people and new ways of thinking about your own written expression.
This event is taking place with support from Creative Communities NZ.
