Gary Urda is promoted to svp, sales, managing the division with oversight of all sales areas including national accounts, retail sales, special markets, and children's. Colin Shields is promoted to the new position of vp, executive director of global digital and international sales, reporting to Urda. Shields has responsibility for worldwide sales of S&S books through digital channels, while also managing digital audio sales and sales of S&S's U.S.-originated titles in the international marketplace, and coordinating the international sales efforts for all of Simon & Schuster's worldwide divisions.

Macmillan Learning chief operating officer Ken Brooks is leaving the company at the end of the year to go back to his consulting practice, Treadwell Media Group, focusing on product development, supply chain and data analysis and education technology.
